David Sauvage, a member of Rezistans ek Alternativ has been arrested and charged with Rogue and Vagabond, one of those nonsensical charges that serves as a useful passe partou by a police force under the twin command of the government and of the filthy rich amongst the private sector that loves to give our politicians a few morsels from their well laden tables.
Apparently, the police went to his house a few days ago, which rather distorts the meaning of 'rogue' and of 'vagabond'.
The dictionary definition of 'rogue' is a dishonest, knavish person; a scoundrel' and it is also defined as a 'tramp ' or..... 'vagabond'! 'Vagabond' is defined as " a person WITHOUT A PERMANENT HOME". Even the Bible defines 'vagabond' as "an idle wanderer without a permanent home or visible means of support".
So, the police goes to the home of David Sauvage, an otherwise law abiding, flawless individual, in order to accuse him of being a 'vagabond', i.e. homeless? Zis dan Maurice ki truv ene ggtri parey!
And where did the alleged offence take place? A year ago, at a public (i.e. owned by all of us) beach at Pomponette, another of our prized jewels being hawked to foreigners and the very rich by mercenary politicians.
For a whole year, neither David Sauvage, nor the other protesters have been in hiding; in fact, they have often been seen in public doing what we should all be doing: demonstrating our anger at the 'braderie' of what remains of our beautiful coastline to the vultures of the private sector.
And is it a coincidence that the police has acted a year late, and only after ReA has been protesting about the greedy hands of Beachcomber over the Salines, Riviere Noire, where another concrete monstrosity will soon replace our wetlands and our gorgeous landscape?
If you think that is a coincidence, then it is time for you to stop believing in fairies at your age....
Beachcomber: part of the very small group of real sacred cows in our island, belonging to a handful of the super super rich, where our 'free and independent' press will do its best to gloss over the rot underneath, and where selfish individuals masquerading as journalists and gogotologues whilst greedily grabbing the filthy lucre will always find it difficult to hide their true nature as Uncle Toms....even under the garb of a pseudo intellectualism that grates on the nerves, and which impresses only like minded individuals.
