[Paul Lismore] Eid Mubarak to all my Muslim friends celebrating their Holy Day after weeks of sacrifice

Rédigé par Paul Lismore le Mardi 3 Mai 2022

It never ceases to amaze me how Muslims in Mauritius remain the number one group of people who will make that extra effort to feed and bring comfort to poor people and to those suffering from the inevitable vicissitudes in all our lives....irrespective of the religious affiliation of those unfortunate people.
You see them all the time, during cyclonic weathers, storms, flooding, or any other natural calamity, providing whatever help they can.

I so wish the sociocultchurel groups that have become such a divisive force in our society lately would learn and copy from the charitable work of many Muslims....But the leaders of those groups are more interested in the subsidy that we ALL provide for them, and in the duty free cars that governments in search of votes have allowed them....

As a Hindu, I envy the sense of brotherhood that Muslims practise and experience every day. They provide a salutary lesson to all of us about support and help for those worse off than us.
Of course, as in all groups, there are exceptions to the rule, and I am grateful that there are some Muslims who make me just as angry as the idiots in my own religion....

But, by and large, Muslims in Mauritius are invariably the first to get off their arses and to provide help where it is needed. So, Eid Mubarak to all of you. Have a wonderful day, and may the rest of the year be filled with days like today
